One-Off Feature

When it comes to quirky accommodation, Cueva Limon fits the bill.  Set in the village of Puente Arriba in a Granada province of southern Spain, this two bedroom cave house runs all the way through the rocky hillside and is a wonderful place to base yourself to explore the Spanish Lake District.

General Info

This fantastic cave house is one of the more unique stays in our portfolio, made even more so by the fact that you have a front door on one side of the hillside, and a backdoor on the other!  The owners and their three friendly dogs live on site in an adjoining cave complex.  Explore from your doorstep on an ebike, stargaze from the wood fired hot tub, try your hand at petanque or archery, or head out to explore further afield.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

There’s masses to see and do in the surrounding area.  The owners have three e-bikes allowing for two guests plus a guide to go on a tour of the local tracks and trails around the cave house.  The house is surrounded by mountain ranges and is paradise for walkers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts.  The cave is in the heart of the Granada Geopark and overlooks a set of hills known as the Badlands.  There are several lakes within a 20-45 minute drive.  Lake Negratin has waterfront restaurants, beach areas and a variety of water based activities on offer.  Visit the ancient town of Baza, or go and admire Velez Blanco castle on its pinnacle high above the town. The city of Granada is just over one hour away and is well worth a visit - fabulous tapas bars and restaurants, shopping, and the world renowned site of the Alhambra Palace to visit.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The interior of the cave has been designed to be authentic with a modern twist.  There is a large, light and well equipped kitchen including washing machine, fridge freezer, cooker and a good range of cutlery, crockery and utensils.    The living and dining space is open plan with a dining table for four, sofa and chairs, a large TV with freeview, games console, games, and books.  The living area also has a log burner for cooler times of year.  There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin.  The double has an ensuite shower room and there is a separate family bathroom with bath and overhead shower.  The twin room leads into the gym room which has a treadmill, workout bench, rowing machine, cross trainer, exercise bike, yoga mats and some free weights.  Also at this end of the cave is a second kitchen leading out into the garden, perfect for when eating or BBQing al fresco.  Even when the outside temperature is 30 degrees plus, the cave usually stays at a comfortable 18-23 degrees, no need for air conditioning!

Exterior Details
The outside space is extensive.  In the rear garden area there’s a wood fired hot tub as well, with some separate seating and an outdoor shower.    There’s a gas BBQ and a large table and benches for eating outside.  Enjoy shady seating on the chairs under the pergola, relax on a sunbed or lounger, or lounge in the double sized hammock.  Also in the garden is an outdoor table tennis table, a badminton net and a petanque court.  The owner is able to offer you an archery lesson on site!  At the front of the cave there’s a raised front patio with table and chairs, easily accessed from the kitchens and a great place to watch the sun rise.  There’s a swing seat, as well as two rooftop terraces with sunbeds (and one with a table and hammock too).  The owners have a Celestron telescope which they’ll happily set up so you can enjoy the stars and planets in the clear night skies.  There’s an excellent village swimming pool just a few minutes’ drive away which is open in July and August.
