In August 2021, our founder and director, Tabitha, went with her family to Casa da Terra in Portugal.  This gorgeous three bedroom property in the Algarve is set in 14 acres of rolling countryside with two small lakes. Read on to find out more about Tabitha’s stay.

Over the summer, our PR Manager Fliss Hoad stayed at the lovely Boot & Shoe cottage in Yorkshire. This historic cottage sits at an ancient crossing on the River Tees near Barnard Castle.  Fliss loved Boot & Shoe cottage so much, she decided to write about it. After a busy, draining and seemingly non-stop few months I was certainly in need of some R&R and that is exactly what I got at Candlestick Cottage, one of our newest One Off Places.

Imagine the scene…you’re on holiday in rural France, it’s early evening, you’re sitting under the shade of a sun-baked parasol, cool glass of wine in hand, nothing to interrupt your thoughts but the gentle hum of the crickets and the occasional flurry of birdsong. You take a sip of the fresh, crisp rosé which you discovered during your tour of the local vineyards, only a short drive from where you’re staying. 

It wasn’t long after turning off the M6 that familiar cityscapes turned to patchwork-quilt fields, wide valley floors, quaint villages with thriving pubs and fields of bleating lambs.  Criss-crossing from the Staffordshire Moors into the Derbyshire Dales looked literally taken from a film set:  it’s no wonder the landscape was chosen as the filming location for Peak Practice, a popular, nineties TV Drama. The series was based in the village of Longnor, our home for a few days’ walking based from Jack’s Cottage.
