So we at last retired and thought we would build a nice little place in Spain for long summer siestas, a swim in our own pool and a home cooked paella now and again.  We had always wanted to build our own place and now seemed to be the right time. We had decided that we did not like the modern villas and wanted an old style, country Finca which would have the mod-cons but retain the old features, a nice fireplace for the winter times and close enough for us to walk to nearby shops and restaurants. 

We had no idea we would buy a home on the Dalmatian Coast - it was always the South of France that attracted us.  It all came about as my Mother wanted to see Dubrovnik - so we arranged to rent a yacht for a week and a villa for a week.

El Tejar is the highest house in a quiet village near Ronda with panoramic views of the beautiful Grazalema mountains. The four bedroom house, which has featured in several design magazines, is decorated in ethnic Andalusian style but has every creature comfort including daily home help, sat TV and fast internet access with desk top iMac and wifi.  

Marche is every bit as beautiful as its central Italian neighbours, Tuscany and Umbria, but without the tourist crowds and price tag. What you won’t find is tourist menus in English, Starbucks or your neighbours from home! What you will find is local food in locals’ restaurants, a real espresso for a euro and warm welcoming people who genuinely want to share this special region with you.
