Many parents of young children wonder whether there's any point in going on holiday - same stress, different place, is the general feeling.  At a time of life when a holiday is frankly an absolute necessity, rather than a nice-to-have, this seems like a cruel blow.  But, step forward Chateau de Gurat, a One Off Place in sunny rural France which will answer all your prayers.

Can we just tell you about this utterly utterly gorgeous country house conversion in Herefordshire?  We welcomed it onto One Off Places a while back and we just can't help shouting about it every now and again.  It is a beautifully restored 15th century house on a private estate near Hay on Wye.  It has six bedrooms, and comprises three interconnected buildings.  It has now been meticulously restored with every modern luxury including glass walkways and double height rooms with dramatic views over the Wye Valley.

Catalonia - best known for its independent language (Catalan) and the beautiful city of Barcelona, one of Europe's most popular urban destinations.  Catalonia also has an extensive coastline, from the rugged and wild Costa Brava in the north, to the golden sand beaches of the Costa Daurada in the south.  And what's more, you've got high mountain ranges (most especially the Pyrenees), national parks, excellent gastronomy, peace and tranquility.  What's not to like?!

So if you're after something special, this is the place to go.  Flights from the UK are remarkably reasonable, so you can save your pennies for some luxurious and decadent accommodation instead!
